This is totally my most favorite, most EPIC engagement photo I shot for Regina and Anthony, over at the Los Angeles County Museum and Arts. It is an oldie, but still heck of a great shot! It was a little late in the night, Regina and Anthony are tired from their engagement session. I “made” them walk, sit, stand a long time, and lots of “PDA” in between. How this shot was made still continues to amaze me to this day. We were about to wrap up, and Regina mentioned they brought an umbrella as a prop. So of course, I said “Yes, let’s do it”. Honestly, while I waited for them to retrieve the umbrella from the parking lot. I asked myself “how the hell am I going to use an umbrella, at night, with not a single drop of rain in sight??”. And this is why I love my job, it’s because I totally enjoy collaborating with my couples and help them get shots they would love to have. One shot, I asked them to hold up the umbrella up high above their heads as they kiss. Before this shot, I stuck a small flash inside the umbrella and I remote fired the flash in side the umbrella as I stood about 10-15 from them, I laid down on the ground, and took this shot with a wide angle lens. I dragged the shutter down to let the ambient light more into the shot.
While I fell in love with this image, what I remember the most was the time I spent “hanging out” with Regina and Anthony during that afternoon and evening.
