Los Angeles Arts District
The bustle, color, and busyness of the Los Angeles Arts District are the perfect place for an engagement session… but not for just anyone. The right couple would need to be fun, bold, and edgy. Enter East Coast couple Cindy and Ian, just the right mix of country and modern to make the Arts District their own.
Cindy & Ian
Cindy and Ian came to me as a referral from my long-time assistant, so there was no doubt in my mind they’d be great. Although they live in Virginia, these two love birds will be getting married in March of next year at The Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach.
Amidst the busy LA traffic and the golden sunshine, we started our session in the late afternoon of the first day in November. The Arts District offers every kind of urban backdrop, making it fun to wander around and enjoy the California fall and the colorful sights. Nearby, the LA Convention Center was hosting the annual Kitty Festival, which meant that Hello Kitty fans swarmed the streets as we searched for just the right spots. For a little extra fun, Cindy brought a little bit of country with her, wearing her boots to ensure we had a good time!
As I’d hoped, the Arts District was packed full of great backdrops to give this country couple a little West Coast fun.
We found this great staircase. In the middle of the Los Angeles Arts District, with all the color and busyness, this was a perfect spot for simplicity, giving Cindy and Ian a chance to sit and be themselves for a minute. Gotta love the look on face.
As it got later in the afternoon, the Arts District took on a whole new character, giving us opportunities for some more edgy shots, as I played with light and lines. Cindy and Ian were so much fun, and totally game for anything.
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to travel into the Arts District with me. I can’t wait to shoot Cindy and Ian’s wedding in March, so check back then for new photos of this great pair.
