I LOVE doing First Looks with my couples! One huge advantage of doing a first look (this is a very personal choice that couples must decide before a wedding timeline is even developed) is that I can a majority of all the important formal shots even before the ceremony starts.
First Looks are very fun, full of surprises, and at the same time, can be nervewracking too. Nonetheless, I photographed this really beautiful sequence right in front of The Waterfront Hilton Hotel in Huntington Beach. Right in the middle of Friday afternoon traffic in Main Street. Cars everywhere honked and drivers alike were congratulating them! Its definitely a surreal moment when my couples are adored left and right.
The Wedding of Rosy and Long
Throwback Thursday Photo:
Halfway into their wedding day. After their Chinese Tea Ceremony at the Vince’s house. We drove out to the famous Pasadena City Hall for their bridal and group portraits. I walked all the way up to the very top of the staircase and shot this gorgeous portrait of Sakura and Vince. I asked my assistant Carlos to hold my off camera flash just beneat the winding staircase and outside the views of my camera. It took a few shots to get the shot I wanted but I could not be more happy to achieve the shots I needed for Vince and Sakura. While I was working with the couple, my 2nd photographer shot a majority of the bridal party.
Throwback Thursday Photo:
Starting out my new blog series simply called “Throwback Thursday” I will be selecting one favorite photo that I photographed a few years back (or just maybe a few months ago).
I photographed Jessalynn and Raymond’s Orange County and Long Beach wedding on September 2011. After their catholic wedding ceremony, we drove down to El Dorado Park for their formal group shots. I even rode along on their party bus. Let’s just say some of those photos I took inside the bus were borderline “too hot to handle”.

That day went so fast. It felt like a blur. I have never met the bride Isha nor her soon to be husband, TJ before. I communicated primarily with TJ’s mother, Gayle throughout the booking and planning process. This is my first wedding where I have never done an engagement session before. So I was a little anxious how I will work with the couple. Will they like me? Will they like my posing directions? Or even as simple as how I dress and spoke to them?
It turned out that I had nothing to worry about. Gayle is one of the sweetest mom you ever want to me. Isha and TJ were totally awesome to work with. They were the sweetest couple and I totally loved working with them.
I am back again at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles where I had the privilege to work here many times, including this gorgeous Styled Session I photographed last May. Thank you to the amazing staff at DoubleTree for blessing me with the most beautiful couples. I had a total blast photographing Isha and TJ’s intimate wedding.
